NGA President and CEO Peter Larkin invites you or another representative from your retail or wholesale company to join him and Jeff Shinder of Constantine Cannon in a webinar on the proposed settlement in In Re Payment Card Interchange Fee and Merchant Discount Antitrust Litigation (MDL 1720). 

 

Mr. Larkin will provide the introduction and background on why on February 10, 2013 the NGA Board voted unanimously for NGA to opt out and object to the proposed settlement and recommend that members also opt out and object before the May 28, 2013 deadline.

 

Mr. Shinder, who serves as legal counsel to NGA and a growing chorus of additional opponents to the settlement, will explain the reasons why the proposed settlement should be opposed and how NGA members can help to convince the Court to reject it at the fairness hearing on September 12, 2013.

 

NGA and others oppose the proposed settlement because in our view it does not achieve the fundamental objective of restructuring and reforming anticompetitive credit card swipe fees and payment rules, and will only make matters worse for consumers and merchants.
